SEMAPHORE News has hosted a weekly broadcast since 2023, hitting most weeks with a report on local southeast Michigan events and other happenings.
For the 2025 winter holiday season, we took a break due to scheduling. But our first broadcast in 2026 has not aired.
Immediately after the first episode was recorded, the laptop we utilize for this work crashed, and would not charge. It boots, but will not stay on, even while plugged in.
While the laptop is in the shop determining if this is a failure that can be fixed, we’re utilizing an ancient low-end chrome book that will not support our studio software.
Our plan at the moment is 2-fold:
- See if the laptop is fixable, and if not replace it.
- Build and set up a desktop for the studio, with the necessary components to make the studio software work
Needless to say, we’re frustrated with the issues and the timing, but hope to be back to broadcasting by the end of the month, one way or another.
