This week in the news, a school counselor at a Catholic school in Pittsburgh was fired after having two women business owners speak to a class on entrepreneurship.

The two women (a married couple) run a store named Elemental Magick, a metaphysical supply store, with their sister-in-law. At the end of the presentation, the store owners offered each student a crystal, and some students reported this to the school.

The diocese makes all employees sign a promise that all lessons will align with Catholic teachings, and after interviewing the counselor, she was asked to resign.

The school also sent letters to students’ parents, asking them to dispose of the crystals and to say a prayer to St. Michael.
